Continued from Page 9 MISSION PROCEEDINGS The regular meeting of the Greg- ory County Commission was held Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in Burke with the following members present: Lance Matucha, Jessy Biggins, Jeff Johnson, Darrell Bentz and Myron Johnson. Also present: Jim Waterbury, Auditor. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Lance Matucha, second by Jessy Biggins to approve the minutes of the January 19, 2016 meeting as read. All members present voted aye. Motion Carried. Conditional Use Permit: The 9:05 a.m. conditional use permit applica- tion for the City of Burke for a con- struction disposal site was held with the following people present Casey Burrus, Zoning Administrator, Jack Gunvordahl, Mike Glover, Vickie Dobesh, Michelle Stem, Sara Grim, Jason Witt and Jerry Peterson. Dur- ing the public hearing there was tes- timony for and against the disposal site. The following resolution was of- fered by Darrell Bentz and seconded by Lance Matucha with stipulations stating DENR regulations must be followed and burning can only be done during the dates of November 1 and March 1. Resolution No. 02022016 Gregory County Commission WHEREAS, City of Burke desires to establish a tree, untreated wood, construction and demolition waste facility for the purpose of solid waste management; and WHEREAS, the City of Burke has approved siting the proposed facil- ity; and WHEREAS, the siting of this pro- posed facility is not in conflict with any established zoning laws or ordi- nances; and WHEREAS, City of Burke will file a solid waste application with the South Dakota Department of En- vironment and Natural Resources (DENR); and WHEREAS, DENR will review that application to determine that the facility can be operated to with- in the South Dakota laws and regu- lations; and WHEREAS, DENR may recom- mend the approval of the permit with conditions adequate to safe- guard the environment; and WHEREAS, the Board of Minerals and Environment will review, mod- ify, approve, or deny the permit if the tentative recommendations and/ or conditions of the permit are con- tested by any interested party; and WHEREAS, the County Commis- sion of Gregory County is required by South Dakota law SDCL- 34A-6-103 to approve of a solid waste facility prior to the issu- ance of a solid waste permit; IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Commission of Gregory County hereby approves construction and operation of the proposed facility to be operated un- der the terms of a solid waste permit to be issued by the Board of Minerals and Environ- ment. APPROVED this 2 day of Febru- ary, 2016 by the Gregory County Board of Adjustment in regular ses- sion at Burke, South Dakota. Upon roll call vote: All members present voted aye. Motion Carried. GIS Update: Casey Burrus, Di- rector of Equalization, met with the Board to give an update on the GIS program progress.
